About me

Filmmaker | Writer | Producer | Cultural Strategist

Beyond my creative work, I bring over 5 years of project leadership in Sweden and 8+ years as a communications specialist with UN agencies, NGOs, and the SWANA region’s largest advertising agency, Tarek Nour. As Chairperson of CinemAfrica (2019–2021), I led organizational restructuring to secure state funding and strengthen sustainability.

I am passionate about mentoring new voices and currently support emerging Sudanese women filmmakers through Aflam Banat. My career reflects a commitment to artistic excellence, cultural strategy, and building bridges between communities through storytelling.

I am a Sudanese-Swedish filmmaker, writer, and producer working across fiction, documentary, VR, and theatre. My practice is defined by creativity across mediums and a proven track record of delivering award-winning, impactful projects.

In 2021, I founded Riverflower, an independent production company dedicated to original, cross-disciplinary storytelling. My film credits include Goodbye Julia (Cannes 2023, Un Certain Regard – Freedom Prize), A Handful of Dates (2020), and In Search of Hip Hop (acquired by BBC Arabic). On stage, I have collaborated with the National Black Theatre of Sweden and contributed to the Royal Dramatic Theatre’s first Arabic-language production as Assistant Director and Script Supervisor.
